Introduction
The Anti-Cancer Club is a voluntary organization dedicated to protecting people against cancer by supporting the activitiesof the National Cancer Center Foundation (NCCF).
In order to fulfil its mission, the club carries out the following campaigns :
- campaign 1 : protect the prople from smoking
- every year, approximately 110.000 koreans develop cancer while 65,000 fall final victims to the disease.
more than 80% of all lung cancer cases are possibly preventable by quitting smoking. - campaign 2 : protect the prople from cancer through prevention and early detection efforts
- hepatitis b vaccination reportedly prevents 70% or 80% of all liver cancer, one of six most common cancers. patients with stomach, colorectum, breast, and cervix uterus may undergo complete cure if their
- lesions are detected early. the anti-cancer club helps the people in the nation to take the necessary precautions such as stop-smoking, hepatitis B vaccination, early detection by increasing the public awareness of its importance in preventing cancer.
- campaign 3 : eliminate cancer through research
- Unfortunately, most of the canccers patients detect their disease at a relatively advanced stage.
In order to find more effective therapeutic treatments for advanced cancers, more investment into a wide - Range of cancer research is required, also, there should be more opportunities for cancer- specialists to conduct research and participate in training programs.
