Dr. Eun Sook LEE took office as the 7th President of National Cancer Center

Eun Sook Lee, M.D., Ph.D. was officially sworn in as the 7th president of the National Cancer Center (NCC) on November 23, 2017. Prior to her appointment, Dr. Lee served as the head of the Program for Immunotherapy Research, National Cancer Center (NCC), a position she held since June 2016.


Dr. Lee received her medical degree at the Korea University College of Medicine, Korea and graduated with honors and distinction in 1993. She then completed her surgical medicine residency at the Korea University Hospital and the spent as a postdoctoral fellow at the department of biochemistry and molecular Biology, MD Anderson Cancer Center Houston in Texas, U.S..


After 5 years on the instructor/assistant professor/staff surgeon at the department of biochemistry and molecular biology, Korea University College of Medicine and, she joined the visiting assistant professor of the Robert Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University, Chicago in 1998-2000.
 

As her comeback to Korea in 2000, she contributed on doing a prominent role to establish the National Cancer Center (NCC) Korea as the head of center for breast cancer and the initial member of the NCC Korea.
 

In addition, she served many roles in the NCC Korea as the Head of the Center for Cancer Prevention & Detection; the Head of the Program for Immunotherapy Research; the Adjunct Professor of the Department of Cancer Biomedical Science, National Cancer Center Graduate School of Cancer Science and Policy; and the Director of the Research Institute.
