  • Greetings of President

Welcome to the National Cancer Center website! Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world. In Korea, cancer is responsible for one out of every three deaths. The cause is projected to increase in the coming years. However, cancer is a preventable and treatable disease.

According to WHO, one third of all cancers can be averted through preventive measures such as anti-smoking, vaccinations, and a healthy diet & life style Another third can be cured by early detection, and the remainder can be overcome through medical research. Furthermore, the suffering of patients with late-stage cancer can be relieved with good palliative care.

NCC has been at the forefront of Korea’s ‘War on Cancer’ since its inception in 2000. To reduce the burden of cancer, NCC has made concerted efforts to develop better strategies for cancer prevention and early detection and more effective measures at the national and international levels.

NCC is striving to fulfill the visions defined in the second “National Cancer Control Plan” by devising cancer control policies and promoting cancer research in Korea through a cooperative network forged between Korean cancer-specialized medical institutions and international organizations.

The goal of NCC is to be one of the world’s best cancer centers by developing a new paradigm in cancer research, rendering the best quality care to cancer patients and functioning as an educational and training hub for the next-generation cancer specialists.

With high-caliber professionals, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, and an innovative management system, NCC is a national cancer center in the battle to conquer cancer.
We hope information in this website will help you gain a deeper understanding of “cancer” and conquer “cancer”.

Thank you very much.
